This was such a fun spontaneous trip that Jonathan took us on. We were lounging around the house and it was already 11:00 when he said, "I know what we're going to do today!! Let's go to Half Moon Bay!! He convinced me to just quickly throw everything in the car, not worry about tiny details and just GO! We got there around 2pm. The reason he had a bug for Half Moon Bay was because he has been working on documentary about Jeff Clark. Jeff Clark is from Half Moon Bay and is the guy who discovered "Mavericks". Mavericks are these insanely huge waves that happen off the coast of an area in Half Moon Bay about 2 weeks out of the entire year. He named Mavericks after his dog Maverick. Anyway, he is the one behind the big surfing competion that takes place there every year. Since Jonathan has been working on this documentary, he has been to all these neat locations all around Half Moon Bay that he was dying to take me to! If you look in the photo you can see the location of Mavericks behind me. You'll see the edge of the land and beyond the cliff is where Mavericks takes place. We drove over there and went on a great trail that took us out there. This was by far my favorite day trip this summer!
